Dr. Katarina Bojović, PhD
Katarina Bojović earned her degree in speech and language pathology from the Faculty of Special Education and Rehabilitation in Belgrade. She later completed her PhD in Genetics at the Faculty of Biology, University of Belgrade.
She began her professional career at the Institute for Experimental Phonetics and Speech Pathology, where she worked as an audiolinguist and speech therapist. Since 2009, she has been part of the professional team at the Dr. Selaković practice, where she has spent the past fifteen years engaged in the diagnosis and rehabilitation of children with developmental disorders.
In 2008, she completed training at the Royal Pediatric Hospital in Oslo on the use of HPLC methods to detect urinary peptides as potential risk factors in the development of autism spectrum disorders. This experience inspired her subsequent scientific focus and doctoral dissertation titled The association of neurodevelopmental disorders with gene variants for lactase, human leukocyte antigen and the vitamin D receptor, as well as the presence of opioid peptides in urine and gut dysbiosis.
In collaboration with the Institute for Biological Research "Siniša Stanković" and the Institute of Molecular Genetics and Genetic Engineering in Belgrade, her doctoral research highlighted the importance of individualized nutritional interventions and microbiota correction in children with neurodevelopmental disorders. Through this work, she developed a holistic model that integrates medical, speech-language, and nutritional aspects of treatment.
She authored scientific papers in the fields of genetics, nutritional therapy, and speech and language development. She has participated in numerous national and international conferences, and is a co-author of the Protocol for the Prevention of Verbal Communication, Behavior, and Learning Disorders in Children Aged 0–3, developed as part of an innovation project funded by the Ministry of Science and Technological Development of the Republic of Serbia.
